1nhaler raised £2.2M in follow-on funding to run a clinical trial of its cardboard dry powder inhaler. Archangels led the round, with Scottish Enterprise and BBB Investments. Archangels has backed the Scottish company since 2023.

The device is a single-dose dry powder inhaler about the size and shape of a credit card. It unfolds into a three-dimensional inhaler at the point of use, has few components and uses a patent-protected membrane system. Building it mostly from cardboard is the company's route to a lower unit cost at scale.

The lead product, 1nhaler Salbutamol, pairs the device with salbutamol. The money pays for technical transfer to a contract manufacturer, clinical trial material, a small trial, and a manufacturing engineering study with Harro Höfliger. Regulatory filing is targeted for late 2027. Co-founder and CEO Lisa McMyn called getting the company's own product into the clinic one of its most important milestones.

A combination product on a new device platform moves the device file and the drug file together, so a late 2027 target leaves little slack if the technical transfer slips.
