Katana is a mechanical thrombectomy system for pulmonary embolism that breaks up clot with high-velocity saline jets. It is meant to handle both soft and organized thrombus without clogging the catheter. Sensors on the device report pulmonary artery pressure during the case. A companion software product, NavIQ, builds 3D pulmonary vessel models from CT angiograms for planning. FDA granted an IDE in November 2024 and the QUADRA-PE trial began enrolling in February 2025.
Proceeds fund completion of QUADRA-PE enrollment, regulatory submissions, NavIQ development and a joint venture in Qatar. Sovereign wealth funds are showing up as leads in device rounds; QIA also joined Synchron's Series D in November.
