Conavi Medical placed its first US commercial OCTIV system at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center and ran its first cases there, the Toronto company said November 2. Dr. Megha Prasad, an interventional cardiologist at Columbia, performed them.

OCTIV, powered by Novasight, combines intravascular ultrasound and optical coherence tomography in a single catheter and one pullback, producing simultaneous co-registered images. The current version adds a redesigned catheter, a patient interface module that sits outside the sterile field, and IVUS imaging without a contrast flush. It is FDA cleared for assessing coronary artery disease and guiding PCI.

Prasad said the first week of cases turned up in-stent restenosis, dissections and plaque ruptures. She discloses consulting payments from Conavi. The company plans a podium presentation by Prasad at TCT 2026.

Conavi trades on the TSX Venture Exchange as CNVI, so a targeted single-site rollout is the affordable launch. The pace of placements over the next two quarters tells more than a first-case release does.
