EndoQuest Robotics named Jared Eben chief commercial officer on October 15. Eben was vice president of robotics, AI and neuroscience at HCA Healthcare, and before that worked at the operating room software company Proximie and at surgical robotics company Auris Health. He takes commercial strategy and health system partnerships at the Houston company, which has no FDA authorization yet and is preparing a De Novo classification request.
EndoQuest finished enrolling its PARADIGM trial in July. Preliminary data from 50 robotic endoscopic submucosal dissection procedures, as of July 18, showed a 100 percent en bloc resection rate with no device-related bleeding or perforation. The company is targeting a US launch next year.
Hiring a health system commercial lead before a De Novo decision is a bet on review timing, and on a first-of-kind robot that is the one variable a founder cannot schedule. The upside is that hospital capital committees and new technology review boards take months of their own, so the work Eben starts now runs in parallel with CDRH rather than after it.
