Healthleap disclosed $38M on October 7, across an $8M seed and a $30M Series A. Sequoia Capital and First Round Capital co-led the seed. Hummingbird Ventures led the Series A. Siblings Jemima and Josiah Meyer founded the company in South Africa in 2022, selling a clinical nutrition tool for dietitians before the pivot.
The software connects to the hospital EHR and runs language models over clinical notes, then combines the result with labs and vitals. It writes a daily risk score into the care team's workflow. Malnutrition and delirium screening is live in more than 50 hospitals, including Penn Medicine, Cedars-Sinai, Intermountain, Houston Methodist and Emory Healthcare. Programs for aspiration pneumonia, pressure ulcers and congestive heart failure readmission are in clinical validation. Contracts run three years, priced by licensed bed count, with some pricing tied to hospital-validated return.
The company says the software highlights patients for additional review and does not diagnose. That is the shape of the clinical decision support carve-out in section 520(o), and no FDA pathway appears in the announcement.
