Ronovo Surgical raised $67 million in a Series D led by JJDC, Johnson & Johnson's venture arm, announced September 5, 2025. Lilly Asia Ventures, INCE Capital and Granite Asia also invested. The Shanghai company, founded in 2019, has now raised more than $100 million across its Series C and Series D in about a year.

Carina is a modular laparoscopic surgical robot built from mobile patient-side carts rather than a single boom. China's NMPA approved it in March 2025 for general surgery, gynecology, urology and thoracic surgery. Alongside the round, Ronovo signed an agreement with Johnson & Johnson Medical Shanghai. The two will sell Carina with J&J MedTech surgical products to hospitals in parts of China. J&J's own Ottava robot is not yet submitted to FDA, so the deal gives its China sales force an approved robot today.
