Sava raised a $36M Series B announced October 9. Ascensia Diabetes Care led it with a strategic equity investment and took exclusive commercialization and distribution rights in Europe. Balderton Capital, Norrsken VC, Simplyhealth Ventures, JamJar Investments and Pentland Ventures also joined.
The London company builds a wearable microsensor that reads molecules just under the skin, starting with glucose. Its filament runs about a tenth the length of a conventional CGM's. Sava plans to run its registration study this year and is aiming at CE approval for non-adjunctive use, meaning insulin dosing without a confirmatory fingerstick.
Ascensia is a PHC Holdings subsidiary selling the CONTOUR meter line in more than 90 countries. Its business is blood glucose strips, which continuous monitoring has been eating for a decade. Leading a round in a CGM challenger and distributing the result is the cheaper version of building one.
Imperial College bioengineers Renato Circi and Rafael Michali founded Sava in 2019. Total raised is $68M, counting a 16.6 million euro Series A in July 2025. Approval and launch sit 18 to 24 months out, and the non-adjunctive claim is the one that decides whether this competes with Dexcom and Abbott or sits beside them.
