Siemens Healthineers has stopped selling its general ultrasound carts, including the Acuson Sequoia, Redwood, Juniper and Maple systems. The change took effect the week of October 12. The company says it will keep servicing installed systems, including software updates and transducer replacements, and will meet its contractual and regulatory obligations.

Two lines survive: the Acuson Freestyle wireless point-of-care probes and the Acuson Origin cardiovascular platform, which supports intracardiac echocardiography. Siemens keeps the cardiac niche and leaves the general-purpose cart business to its competitors. For handheld and software-defined entrants, the opening sits in the radiology and OB departments that now need a new cart vendor at replacement time.
