Bluepoint Partners put seed money into Sonocare Lab, announced October 29. Neither the amount nor the valuation was disclosed. Bluepoint is a Korean deep tech accelerator with offices in Daejeon and Seoul, and director Park Soo-yong led the deal.

The company is commercializing the Acoustic Brain Sweeper, a transcranial focused ultrasound device meant to push cerebrospinal fluid through the glymphatic system, the route the brain uses to clear metabolic waste. The company says it steers the beam in a set direction at sound pressures comparable to a hospital ultrasound imaging system, and plans an array that attaches to the head and runs automatically.

Chief executive Park Jin-hyung is a professor of global biomedical engineering at Sungkyunkwan University. He took his doctorate in biomedical engineering at the University of Southern California, then worked on ultrasound systems at Siemens in Korea and Philips in the United States. The technology comes from Brain Cleaner, a project selected for the Samsung Future Technology Promotion Program in 2022.

The first target market is a companion device for antibody therapies in Alzheimer's, with Parkinson's and clearance of toxic blood products after cerebral hemorrhage behind it. There is no human efficacy data and no regulatory submission, so the positioning is a thesis rather than a label.
