Spiro Medical raised $67 million in a Series A announced January 7, 2026. Andera Partners led, with Omega Funds and Sherpa Healthcare Partners co-leading. HSG, Supernova Invest, Northern Light Venture Capital and Hero Inc. participated. Sixty-seven million dollars is a large Series A for a device company that surfaced in 2025.

The Irvine, California company is developing the Pulmonary Neuromodulation System. The implant stimulates targeted spinal nerves to modulate airway reflex pathways. Spiro is aiming at severe uncontrolled asthma: wheeze, chest tightness, shortness of breath and cough. Spiro ran a pilot clinical study in 2025 and says it starts with issued patents and human data. Proceeds go to building a purpose-built implant and the clinical work needed for U.S. approval; a novel implant with no predicate is most likely a PMA path with a randomized trial. Co-founders include Stephen Pyles and Kurt Gehlsen, and Rinda Sama is CEO.
