Stryker to buy ZuriMED and its FiberLocker rotator cuff patch

Stryker agreed on September 1, 2026 to acquire ZuriMED, the Zurich company behind the FiberLocker system for rotator cuff augmentation. Terms were not disclosed. ZuriMED keeps operating as a separate entity until the deal closes.

FiberLocker is a polyester patch applied during or after rotator cuff repair to support healing and reduce re-tears. FDA cleared it in late 2024 under K241219. Re-tear rates after rotator cuff repair run from 11 percent to 94 percent depending on the study and the patient's age, which is why augmentation has become one of the fastest-growing areas in sports medicine.

Andy Pierce, Stryker's group president for MedSurg and Neurotechnology, said the technology addresses an important clinical need within shoulder care. For a startup, the shape of the deal is the lesson: one cleared implant in a category the strategics have decided to own, bought less than two years after clearance.
