Zimmer Biomet has extended the exclusive distribution agreement it signed with Think Surgical in 2024, in a multi-year deal announced October 13. Zimmer keeps selling its own version of TMINI, Think's cordless handheld robot, configured for the Persona knee.

Neither company gave terms or a length. Brad Kessler, Zimmer's president of Americas robotics, technology and data, said TMINI "addresses the needs of our customers who want a wireless, handheld robotic system for use with the Persona knee system." Zimmer also sells Rosa, its own robotic knee platform, and has pointed surgeons who prefer CT based planning toward TMINI since the original deal.

Think cleared TMINI in May 2023 and reached its 5,000th procedure in May. The company says the system is compatible with about 70 percent of the total knee implant market, running across nine implant options as of February, including Stryker's Triathlon and systems from Maxx Orthopedics, Waldemar Link and Medacta.

Think took a debt facility of up to $65 million from Symbiotic Capital in July, structured as $15 million upfront, $15 million on milestones and up to $25 million discretionary. CEO Stuart Simpson said then that it was expected to finance the company to profitability. An exclusive lane inside the Persona franchise is the volume commitment that makes that plan hold.
