Urologic Design closed an oversubscribed $1.2M pre-seed round, announced October 29. Angel Investor Forum, a Connecticut angel group, led the equity raise. HBS Alumni Angels of Boston, Haven Founders Fund, Connecticut Innovations and Yale Angels joined, along with several individual investors.
The Branford, Connecticut company is building a patented urethral occlusion device for men with urinary incontinence. Its first clinical study will enroll men with stress urinary incontinence. The company says it has a working prototype, secured IP and finished bench testing.
The money pays for product refinement, continued R&D, regulatory work and preparation for a first-in-human study in a small cohort. David Hesse, co-founder and chief scientific officer, is an associate professor of urology at Yale School of Medicine and founded the company in 2022. No regulatory pathway or study timeline was disclosed, which is about what $1.2M buys: enough to get first human data, not enough to carry a submission.
