Velosity buys Lucid Labs and adds more than 20 device engineers in Minnesota

Velosity acquired Lucid Labs, a Rogers, Minnesota design and prototyping firm founded in 2004. Terms were not disclosed. Lucid brings more than 20 design and development engineers, weighted toward embedded engineering for medical devices.

Velosity runs clean room injection molding, precision machining, tooling and assembly from Forest Lake, Minnesota, with a second site in Brooklyn Park. Graham Partners owns it and reported about $5.1B in regulatory assets under management as of June 30, 2026. Lucid founder and chief executive Tim Hillukka becomes Velosity's chief innovation officer.

Contract manufacturers keep buying design houses because customers want one supplier from concept through validation. For a startup that cuts handoffs and design transfer risk. It also cuts the number of independent shops left to quote against.
