Wandercraft opened US sales of Eve on September 17, five weeks after FDA cleared the self-balancing personal exoskeleton on August 11. Eve walks without crutches or a walker and was cleared for any neurological level of spinal cord injury, a scope no prior personal exoskeleton carried.
Each unit is fitted and manufactured for one user. Distribution runs through the company's Walk experience centers, one open in New York and one opening in Miami in November, plus more than 180 National Seating & Mobility locations. Buyers go through clinical evaluation and training before delivery.
Eve bills under HCPCS code K1007. Wandercraft says the Department of Veterans Affairs covers it through USVetServ, and workers' compensation programs do as well, with financing offered to self-pay patients. Pricing was not disclosed. CEO Matthieu Masselin framed the August clearance as readiness and this week as delivery.
Personal exoskeletons have cleared FDA before and then sat unsold because nobody would pay for them. A billing code, a VA route and an existing mobility dealer network is the piece most of those programs never assembled.
