Stryker completed its acquisition of ZuriMED on October 26, eight weeks after signing the definitive agreement on August 31. Neither company disclosed the price. The Swiss company's FiberLocker System joins Stryker's sports medicine portfolio.
FiberLocker pairs a non-degradable polyester staple fiber implant with a surgical micro-stapling device that fixes it into soft tissue during or after a rotator cuff repair. The sutures and bone anchors still carry the mechanical load of the repair. The patch is there to add strength and support healing. FDA cleared it in 2024 on bench and animal performance data.
Human evidence is still accruing. ZuriMED opened a first-in-human safety study in Switzerland in 2025 and a US multicenter trial whose primary endpoint is healing at six months on MRI. Stryker bought a commercial product with its pivotal readout ahead of it, which is the standard trade in augmentation and leaves the acquirer holding the evidence risk.
